Tips to Repair Dry Nails

A dry nail is the main problem that results in splitting, breakage, cracked and brittle nails. Dry nails can be caused due to usage of chemical products without wearing the rubber gloves and due to natural aging process. So, it is important to take care of dry nails to avoid other nail problems such as splitting, cracking, and yellow nails. Nails often get brittle, thin and weak because they dried out. Dryness of toenails or fingernails makes them lose their flexibility and strength that leads to snags and cracks.

Tips to Repair and Take Care of Dry Nails

The following tips are useful to repair and prevent dry and damaged nails.

  • Use Olive Oil – It is a very easy and inexpensive treatment to make the dried nails soft and strong. People require soaking their dried nails in olive oil at least for ten to fifteen minutes daily. Olive oil helps to nourish the dry nails and to keep them soft.
  • Apply Cuticle Cream – A soothing cream for cuticle helps to keep the dry cuticles soft and healthy. Massage the cuticle cream around the nails and cuticle at bedtime.
  • Wear Gloves – Put the rubber gloves when doing gardening and washing of clothes or dishes as cleansers, soaps and detergents can harsher fingernails that cause dryness, peeling and splitting.
  • Take Biotin Enrich Diet – People should ensure that they take a biotin rich diet regularly as biotin helps in thickness and strengthen of weak nails. Biotin can be founded in eggs, liver, cauliflower, whole grains and avocado. People can also consume biotin supplements to get adequate amount of biotin and keep their nails healthy.
  • Don’t Overuse Fingernails – Never use fingernails to open any milk can, bottle or any other object. The dried nails will easily break or crack down with such activities.
  • Consume Multivitamins Regular – All the vitamins are important for overall fitness and can do well for the nails too. Deficiency of calcium, minerals, Vitamin A and C can cause brittle and dry nails. Therefore, people require to consume multivitamins to maintain the growth and health of nails.
  • Avoid Frequent Use of Nail Paint Remover – Excessive use of nail polish remover can also cause dry nail as it contains harsh chemical.

In conclusion, it can be said that using of natural creams for massaging the nails and basic care of nails will surely prevent the dry nails and keep them strong.
